In 2013 my grandmother asked me to build her a coffin for when she would die “in the far future”. No new wood was allowed to be used for this coffin. Only already used, recycled simple wood was good according to her and “no new trees would be needed to be cut”. It would give her peace of mind she said, to know that her final vessel would be finished, waiting for her passing, placed under a table cloth in her own house.
